News You Can Use…from Jim Walsh

It’s Not Summer Until…

One of the often overlooked, yet great features of Marin is the award winning Marin County Fair. Delightfully scaled to Marin’s audience, there is always something for everyone. In addition to Home Goods Judging wherein spectators are invited to sample the competing pies, cakes and cookies, our favorite part is the array of musical acts.

Here are this year’s Headliners:

  • June 30:  Michael Franti
  • July 1:     Beach Boys
  • July 2:     Orpheus, Eddie Money
  • July 3:     Los Lobos, Petty & the Heartshakers
  • July 4:     LeAnn Rimes, Matt Jaffe

My personal recommendation for Best times to attend:

Early Monday and Tuesday. Shows, exhibits, even the Ferris Wheel are available with little or no lines, and the finest fair food, anywhere.

And this just in from the Government

Our real estate market is so good that well, the only thing that could change that is….

The Federal Reserve just raised interest rates and is signaling another couple of increases before year end. While this is in fact a good sign – the economy is growing – here in Marin we have been enjoying that growth for some time.  As the rest of the country catches up, and the Fed raises interest rates, what do you suppose the effect on a buyer’s purchasing power is?

Take away point:

  • All other things being equal, increased interest rates will make it difficult for buyers to continue paying record prices for homes.
  • If you’ve thought about a move in the near or distant future, call Jim today. Proper planning can save you $$’s!

Market Update

MARIN MARKET ACTIVITY

Just like the last few years, we are beginning to see inventory – homes available for sale – catching up with homes sold. While still very much a seller’s market, a bit of normalcy is returning to sales. Interesting market fact: For all the multiple offer/bidding wars in recent months, one home in seven that comes to market fails to sell at all.

Active buyer demand still requires expertise for best seller outcomes. If selling is in your plans, be sure to speak with a proven professional: Jim Walsh.
